Patron for Ole Bull 2010

HM Queen Sonja has agreed to be official patron for Ole Bull’s 200th birthday celebrations. The announcement was made yesterday during the launching of the bicentenary program at Permanenten, West Norway Museum of Decorative Art.

The Norwegian violinist Arve Tellefsen played a selection of Bull’s works, including ‘the Herd Girl’s Sunday’ and ‘A Mother’s Prayer’, at the opening ceremony of the bicentenary program at Permanenten on Thursday, 28 January. (See the video recording)

HM Queen Sonja has agreed to be official patron for ‘Ole Bull 2010’. The celebrations will officially open on 12 February with a gala concert at Den Nationale Scene (Bergen’s main theatre). The queen will attend.

Actual celebrations will already have begun on 5 February, Ole Bull’s birthday. Everyone is invited to Festplassen for a free show, fireworks and hot ‘Bull-ion’. Among others, Stian Barsness Simonsen, the violinist Sonoko Miriam Welde and the rapper ‘Gest’ will participate.
