Free concerts every day
Free concerts will be held at Permanenten (West Norway Museum of Decorative Art) starting Monday, 31 May 2010.
During Bergen International Festival, a series of free concerts will be held at Permanenten from 31 May to 9 June, everyday at 2pm. The concerts coincide with the exhibition Ole Bull and the Master Instruments. Everyone is welcome! See calendar for a detailed program.
The concerts and exhibitions included in the big violin fest at Permanenten are organized in connection with the 200th birthday celebrations for Ole Bull. Bull was an avid instrument collector and owned several rare violins. The exhibited master-violins are on loan from the collection of Dextra Musica, and several will be played during the concerts.
Vertavo String Quartet starts
The first concert on Monday, 31 May, features Vertavo String Quartet, consisting of Berit Værnes Cardas and Øyvor Volle (violin), Henninge Båtnes Landaas (viola) and Bjørg Værnes (cello).
After each concert the public are invited to take a guided tour of the exhibition (exception: the weekend of 4-6 June, due to a conference). The tours are led by either Øystein Birkeland, artistic director of Dextra Musica, or violinmaker Jacob von der Lippe. For private groups, guided tours can be prearranged. Please contact the reception at Permanenten, and see www.kunstmuseene.no for further information.
